Apple is expected to unveil its iPhone 5 smartphone at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) to be held in June 2012, the Chinese-language Commercial Times quoted Daiwa Securities as indicating.

The iPhone 5 will continue to utilize glass to glass (G/G) touch panel technology which will benefit current touch panel suppliers TPK Holding and Wintek, the paper quoted the securities house as saying.

Cook, 50, replaced Apple’s ailing co-founder Steve Jobs as chief executive of the Cupertino, California-based gadget-maker last month.
Citing “sources close to the situation,” the Dow Jones-owned AllThingsD said the iPhone 5 would go on sale within a few weeks after the announcement.

Jobs, 56, the Silicon Valley visionary behind the Macintosh computer, the iPod, iPhone and iPad, stepped down as Apple’s CEO on August 24.

Jobs has presided over Apple’s splashy product launches in the past and AllThingsD said “the pressure will be on Cook to turn in a good performance.”

“What will be interesting to see, of course, is if Jobs himself will also make an appearance, which is something that is likely to be determined by his health, in a decision that will be made very close to the event,” it said.

Jobs underwent an operation for pancreatic cancer in 2004 and a liver transplant in 2009.

Apple released the iPhone 4 in June 2010 and sold 20.34 million of the devices last quarter.

Apple shares have been trading at record highs this week and the stock was up 1.37 percent at $419.13 on Wall Street on Wednesday.

With many users of the iPhone 3 and 3GS up for a new phone with a contract renewal it may be the case that the iPhone 5 is the most popular selling cell phone or smart phone in history. Even those who have recently purchase an iPhone 4 may be willing to trade up if the iPhone 5 has all the features and specs that many think it will have.

With that being the case it will be highly unlikely that the iPhone 5 will be marked down at all for the 2011 Christmas holiday shopping season. Even though this is true it is still possible that this will be the hottest Christmas 2012 gift of the дфые 10 years especially iPhone 16GB. I can only hope my children or grandchildren upgrade my 3gs! Any other offers on this would be appreciated as well! Over the next few months we will get to hear much more about the new Apple iPhone 5 but as for now we can expect to see full prices for this piece of technology even during the Black Friday sales event.
