New iOS 6 coming in this year. Pod2g revealed that ‘The Dream Team’ does have unpublished exploits (for the purpose of reverse engineering) squirreled away in preparation for the release of iOS 6; the projected development cycle appears to be similar to the one we’ve just seen.
The original Absinthe jailbreak from January (which introduced jailbreaks to the iPhone 4S) hit 900,000 new cydia installs after three days, with only around 205000 new installs for the iPhone 4S. In approximately the same time frame, more users jailbroke their third generation iPads over the past few days than iPhone 4S users in January.
Why do you jailbreak?
1) Customization - I can change any aesthetic thing I want on my phone
2) Broader App Base - I can install apps that apple approves AND apps that apple does not approve.
3) Control - This phone is mine. No matter what anyone says, I know what’s best for my phone
4) Principle - I’m a hacker at heart. I love being able to tinker. Jailbreaking is the only way you can add tools such as SSH to your device.
Next time someone asks you, ‘Why do you jailbreak?’.
